Hale Construction, Inc. employs a staff of dedicated professionals, but we’re more like a family than a company. We don’t just work here. We live here, too. Most of us grew up in East Tennessee. We are your friends and neighbors. We’re active in the community and this is our home.
J. Edward Hale, our president, manages the company and takes an active role in its day-to-day operations. He’s a registered professional engineer and serves as a project manager.
John R. Hofer
John R. Hofer, our vice president, is also a registered professional engineer. He has worked with Ed since 1984. John currently manages three to four projects.
Secretary & Office Manager
Phyllis Carroll oversees the office operations. She has worked with Ed since 1987 and is always available to help. If she can’t personally answer your question, she’ll find someone who can.
Crista Trent oversees the HR and payroll duties of the office. In addition she assists Phyllis with the daily operations of the office.

We take great pride in our work.
The project manager’s duties include estimating projects, negotiating contracts and writing purchase orders. They assist our superintendents with scheduling subcontractors, equipment and material deliveries. Project managers visit the job site and attend meetings with clients, architects and engineers. They know their projects from top to bottom.
Hale Construction, Inc. employs several field superintendents who manage the day-to-day operations on job sites. All of our superintendents (Rodney Doubleday, David Dugger, Don Dunay, J.W. Hale, Rob Parker) are very experienced when it comes to scheduling our crews, subcontractors, and equipment in the field. They are hands-on and do what needs to be to done to successfully complete a project.
To ensure every project is completed on time and in budget, before it starts the company assembles a specialized crew from their pool of skilled tradesmen. The size and composition of these crews varies depending on the scope of the project. All of our employees are drug-screened before they are hired and randomly tested each year. Every employee attends yearly drug-free training to qualify Hale Construction, Inc. as a Tennessee Drug Free Company.
Our management team has more than 150 years of construction experience combined covering virtually every facet of the building industry.
